Happily dead 3ds max, Photoshop, VRay, ZBrush October 2011
I made this one for a contest "A la muerte con una sonrisa" that could be translated as... to death with a smile.
The whole concept i used was based around a popular saying that goes something like.. el muerto al pozo y el vivo al gozo, that could also be translated as ... To the dead interrment and to the living enjoyment... a pretty rough translation but .. hell you get the point hahaha, so i kind of modified that saying... To the dead interrment and to the death enjoyment, i know it doesn't make a lot of sense but it sounds pretty good in spanish hahaha. .. El muerto al pozo y la muerte al gozo!!
And so this was what i was trying to achieve, make death fun, here in Mexico there's the tradition of making it "fun" and "part of the family" we eat sugar skulls with our names or chocolate ones too, El día de los muertos, is one of the best holidays, at least for me i love the smell and the whole tradition that comes with it, so this was a bit of a tribute to it.
Hope you like it, i had to lower the size of the image cause it was a monster hahaha, the final render was about 7000x10000 pixels, since it's going to be printed (if it gets chosen of curse) base model on max, detail on zbrush, grass, textures, render were done on max too, then i composed in photoshop since i didn't wanna comp a lot of things , the clouds were from some brushes i found somewhere but i don't have the name of the author, if you know him post a comment to give him/her the credit.
